Meet the doctor...and the diapers

Today we took the boys to meet our family doctor, their first checkup since we were discharged. Because they are just over 2 months corrected, she went through the developmental milestone checklist and we are happy to say that both boys are doing exactly what 2 month old babies should be doing. What a relief! Unfortunately we have been spending a lot of time second guessing Asher's behaviour, both because of his bleed and because Nolan is doing some things ahead of him (smiling and following objects). But it turns out that Nolan is in fact a bit advanced for where he's expected to be, so good news for both of them. It's hard for poor Asher, and for us, because we are always going to have that extra bit of worry about his progress. Add the fact that he has a brother to compare to and that complicates things.

Both of them have done amazingly well in the weight gain department, gaining about 350 grams (over 3/4 of a pound) each in the past week. That is far more than they were gaining in their final weeks at the hospital so I take it as a sure sign they are much happier and less stressed at home, and therefore able to concentrate on growing. We have been monitoring their food intake like it's a science so we could report exactly how much they eat per day if they were not growing appropriately. It appears that isn't necessary! (Although we're not ready to put away our pee/poo/feed spreadsheet quite yet!)

In other news, our cloth diaper service started today, so keep your eyes out for two giant bums!
