There has been an explosion of baby gear in our house!
When Rio was a baby we lived in a 600 square foot condo (2 bedroom, go figure!) yet baby gear was always safely hidden away. Exersaucer put under her crib, activity mat tucked under the couch, booster seat tucked into the table, toys neatly kept in secret baskets. Our place was so small we didn't want to be tripping over her things wherever we went.
Well things have changed. Now we have two babies and a reasonably sized house so the gear bomb has dropped. Currently in our dining room and living room we have:
1 bumbo chair
2 activity mats
2 bouncy chairs
1 large breastfeeding pillow for tummy time
Then there's the carseats and toys in their bedroom...oh and two strollers.
Not only are there two babies, but given their chronological age vs. their corrected age, they are overlapping a lot more gear than Rio did. For instance Rio was well out of the bouncy chair and the activity mat by the time the exersaucer entered the picture, yet the boys are happily still using all of the above to help enhance all of their skills.
All of these are hand me downs or previously Rio's - thank goodness. Can we say excess? Oy! There is no hiding it anymore, we have three kids! And don't even talk to me about our rec room downstairs....Rio has dropped a whole other kind of toy bomb down there. At least I only need to venture down there when required, so for now I can pretend it doesn't exist.
