Today I saw my endocrinologist after my recent thyroid ultrasound. As explained by the radiologist at the time, I had a few lumps on my thyroid, none of which were large enough to warrant a biopsy.
When speaking to the doctor today, he said that while none of the lumps were large, one of them was calcified which is apparently a "tiny red flag" (his words) for carcinoma. Gulp. So I go for another ultrasound in 6 months and if it gets bigger or calcifies more, again I'm slated for a biopsy.
So not terribly bad news, but not good news either, because it's not quite over yet. Here's hoping I am able to forget about it all for the next 6 months as opposed to exhibiting typical Tracey behaviour and spending every day thinking about the giant tumour growing in my neck. Awesome!
if there is any question... why don't they do the biopsy now???
ReplyDeleteI think because I have no family history of thyroid issues and am not at particularly high risk because women tend to be "lumpy" (again, his words!)
ReplyDeleteHi Tracey,
ReplyDeleteI think someone out there (up there?) is just keeping you on your toes. I say don't worry until there is something to worry about. My motto in life.
See you soon,
