A Year Ago Today - The Start Of It All

One year ago today...
  • I was exactly 24 weeks pregnant and completely healthy. So I thought.
  • It was my last day of work, thinking it was only because my sciatica was too bad to sit, not because of what was to come.
  • A routine ultrasound told us my cervix was dangerously short and I would require a cerclage.
  • My life changed. I had no idea of the magnitude of that change.
So as we begin to count down to the boys' birthday, this starts a very bittersweet time in my life. Reliving the pain these coming weeks caused me a year ago is not going to be fun, but I will try to look at it in a positive light, knowing now what all came out of it at the end.

Today though, I don't feel so positive. A year ago today marked the start of the most difficult months of my life.

If you want to read about it as it actually happened, check it out here.

  1. I was still in complete blissful ignorance! Working away, coming home, reading my maternity books (that never mention prematurity), picking out names, etc. However, the next week was to start a grueling set of all day meetings at work. Exhausting and I had a VERY difficult time sitting. I squirmed and squirmed in my chair to try and get feeling in my butt. I think I even went to my massage therapist this week to have her massage it. Lucky her LOL!

  3. Sending love and many, many hugs your way. I know all too well how hard these terrorversaries are--even when there are some beautiful babies at the end of it all.

Be kind to yourself and know that you are not alone. Hugs.
