Middle Name Pride. What?

An online magazine I subscribe to showed up in my facebook newsfeed today telling me it's "Middle Name Pride Day" today. Seriously!?! Is there a day for everything? This is a bit ridiculous. I certainly have no pride in my middle name. No offense to my parents but my middle name is lame. Mine is LYN. As in missing an N at the end. Come on.

I do however have a lot of pride in my kids' middle names. They are all named for a grandparent, great grand-parent, or sibling. Check out the explanation of my kids' names here.

Happy Middle Name Day! Please comment and tell me yours!

  2. Mine is Maria - pronounced Mariah, as in Mariah Carey and never like it because of that. However, I was named after my Grandmother, Mary. Why Maria and not Mary? I am still unclear of that. I am not a fan of Mary either. But I do like Maria, pronounced Maria because of the Spanish “Maria del Mar” - which I sometimes consider to keep in my back pocket for a daughter one day. Del mar being the middle name that is. It means “Mary of the Sea” and although I am not religious by any stretch, I do love the sea and love the way it rolls off the tongue.

  5. Anne; no reasoning whatsover except that my parents thought it sounded good.
Same thing with Rose for Evie! (except I do love roses and they were the flowers for the wedding)
Hope you had the best Middle Name Day EVER!

  6. Marie, for no reason I assume, as I am from the same parents that middle named you Lyn! Love it that my kids think my middle name is actually MURRAY! (ok so just Grady).

Did the exact opposite for my kids....Chloe's middle name is ANN after mom, and Grady's is William after Brian's dad.

    Signed,
    Diana Marie Pasqualotto
