Asher may just be on the verge of learning to commando crawl over here! I am trying not to get ahead of myself, but he has been making some serious progress!
For weeks he has been able to pull himself one arms length to us or a toy, but then he stops because his arms are caught under him and he doesn't know how to pull them out. Well today I noticed him pulling himself one arm's length, and then bringing his arms back out in front of him. So I tested him...
I sat far enough in front of him that he had to pull himself just one time to hold my hands. He did it, no problem. So I let go of his hands and backed up and did the same thing, and lo and behold, he pulled himself to me again. We did this over and over until he had pulled himself half way across the living room. I think my reaction probably helped with some positive reinforcement (screaming like a crazed woman "mommmmyyyy is sooooo proouuuud of youuuuuu"). When he got tired he would put his head down and take a rest, but then he'd keep going. What a champ.
This is huge. HUGE. If he can get himself mobile, he will open himself up to a whole new world, and hopefully help with a bit of his frustration. I don't see this suddenly happening over night, or even in the next week, but now I do have confidence that if we keep working with him he will learn how to do it - of course in his own sweet time, as per his usual M.O.
Way to go Ashy!
