We just returned from a whirlwind 5 days away. Phew, we are beat!
Many months ago when Jordan needed to book his summer holidays, we opted for May, hoping to go away again in the fall. We timed them around traveling to my home town for its annual festival. Then when the time inched closer we realized that an 8 hour drive with a ferry on top is waaay too long to be in the car with a preschooler and baby twins. Needless to say we decided on somewhere much closer, so Jordan's home town it was.
Normally, when we go visit we try to cram too much in two nights so we decided to stay for 4. Wow, did we pack it in. We managed to have quality visits with two sets of grandparents, go to the beach twice, go for a walk in the woods, roast marshmallows, bbq, hang out with some old friends and their lovely girls, shop, eat, eat and eat. The best part of it was that Jordan and I went out for not one, but TWO DATES! I cannot even tell you how nice it was to be out of the house alone with my husband. Magic!
Aside from Rio crying all day yesterday (alllll day - that's what consecutive non-naps does to her), the kids were a dream. They all slept well and behaved well and we all had so much fun.
This was pretty much it for our "summer" (pathetic weather we are having!). We have a girls' weekend, a boys' weekend, and some weddings, but otherwise Jordan is working most weekends. Staying around home will be fine though, as we're booked for Mexico in October!
Very, very pathetically, we did not take a single photo of the trip. Woops!
Good thing Grampa George documented it. Nolan looks so much like he did as a baby!
