It's Giveaway Time

Ok people, it's time for a contest.

I always look at other people's blogs having contests and I think "I want to have a contest". But normally those people are giving something away that has been provided by a sponsor, and I don't have a sponsor.

ANYONE WANT TO SPONSOR ME?

That's an open invitation by the way. Think it over.

No but seriously, back to the task at hand. I have something to give away. Something I bought myself, paid shipping for myself, and will ship to the winner myself. Because I'm a really good person and love to give*.

Ready for it?

My book! (also known as "the book I'm in with a bunch of other writers", not technically my book): Monday Coffee and Other Stories of Mothering Children with Special Needs.

You see I was excited to get my copy of the book from the publisher but it was taking a while because apparently USPS and Canada Post don't play nice. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and order a copy from Amazon. Well apparently Amazon was a little flaky when the book was first available, so even though it said it was available, it wasn't. So I waited, and waited, and waited.

Eventually my copy of the book came from the publisher but did not come from Amazon, so I thought "Huh, I guess when the Amazon copy comes I'll give it away for Christmas". But guess what - it never came in time for Christmas either. Now, it's finally here, and yes I could still give it away to a friend or family member, but instead, I want to give it to YOU!

So here's what you need to do to win. One simple thing: leave a comment telling me why you'd like to read a book written by special needs moms. Are you one? Do you know one? Do you have special needs yourself and want to understand your mom better? Do you just like free stuff? Whatever the reason, I'd love to hear it.

Winner will be picked at random and I'll announce the winner back here in a week. Start typing in the comments….now! Good luck!

*Really good person: questionable. Love to give: absolutely!

  1. I think I should win because I am the first person to leave a comment. Just kidding. I think I should win because of how much I struggle as a parent with two typically developing kids. I truly can't imagine how hard it must be to worry about your children on a whole other level. I also want to win because of you Tracey; because I want to have a book on my shelf where I can say, "My really good friend is one of the authors of this book, isn't that cool? And she is a brilliantly writer, here take a read."

  2. My five year old son has Autism and I don't know any other people in my town who has a child with autism. it has been hard for me because I really don't think any of my friends understand what I do every day.It would be nice to read about what another mom thinks, what works for her family and if she is exhausted like me.Ha!

  4. I'd love to read this book since I have yet to befriend another mom whose child has a disability. It can feel really lonely at times although my husband and I lean on each other greatly.

  5. If I won this book I would actually ship it to a friend who has a child with Down syndrome because of two reasons: 1) my copy of the book is on its way! 2) The stories in the book would be motivating, comprehensive and touching to her and her family 3) because you are in it (*yes I stole this from above - but it does sound good, doesn't it - you should be SO proud Tracey).

  6. I would love to read your story and the others too. I am a para in an inclusionary preschool so any extra incite into the world of our little friends is awesome! We might even get to use it for our book group!

I never win anything! so if I do I'll give it to Kari (I can borrow it from her, right?) I'm so proud of you Trace! Te quiero, tu amiga Ale

  9. My dear friend for almost 20 years is published, is that enough of a reason :) If not, I will say that I am so proud to call you my friend and feel that your family is well, family. You and Jord amaze us with your resilience, your strength, your energy and your love. I am grateful for having shared so many memories together as friends in university, couples, and now as families. I would be honoured to have your book on my new book shelf! Whatever you decide, I am incredibly proud of your hard work!
